The American Dream Reading Program, written by Sheila Goodfriend, is a
multi-sensory reading and language arts curriculum which provides children with the basic foundation for learning with emphasis on a strong phonetic presentation.  The unique feature of this program does not allow children to “fall through the cracks.”  The major stumbling blocks to learning are addressed in WEEK 1 of the program and are repeated in every WEEK thereafter.

Dr. Reid Lyon, former Chief of the National Institutes of Health Branch and Child Health and Human Development, reported that the number of children identified as poor readers who were served through special education, could be reduced up to 70% through early identification and prevention programs.  The American Dream Reading Program depicts that type of program.

The reading component in the American Dream Reading Program, includes explicit phonics and decodable text with emphasis on comprehension. The language arts component includes spelling, capitalization, punctuation, handwriting, and creative writing.  It is designed to empower instructors and parents to the teach successful prevention and intervention techniques of reading, writing, and spelling to children of all abilities:

  1. Early Childhood Readers….………………….To Get a Head Start
  2. First Grade Children..…………………………To Prevent Problems
  3. Exceptional Children...………………………..To Intervene
Learning Disabled with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Attention Deficit Disorder(ADD),

  4. Any Child or Adult Who Cannot Read…...….To Intervene
